Lucy Pullen’s Spark Chamber makes cosmic rays visible by using the ionised path created through a gas medium to bridge a gap between high voltage plate, causing a spark. Find out more about spark chambers here and here.
Pullen also made a cloud chamber, serving a similar purpose but instead condensing a stream of alcohol vapour.

A 1.5 litre bottle of every perfume released in 2012. I am kind of curious what it smells like.

We’re two years old this month, let’s do something.
Seventy Seven will have been running for two years as of the 12th April, so we thought we would at least do something. As we’ve been quiet in the past few months, we settled on blogging something every day up until May.
Anyway, moving on from largely emotionless celebration-formalities - keep checking back for our updates, please don’t hesitate to talk to us, and tell all your mates.
Bonus Trivia:
+ Initially the blog was a means of sharing good-internet-finds somewhere that wouldn’t clutter the rest of our digital lives.
+ 77 was the name/number of the first house we shared, hence Seventy Seven (no-brainer, really).
+ Our other house-mates have blogs too (it’s not exclusive, it just is what it is), the full and current collection is as follows, make sure to click-through: Adam, Aidan, Patrick & Roy
+ In theory, if we blog one thing every day this month, we will hit our 300th post on Tuesday 16th (That accounts for two today).
+ This is a shared blog, so we can’t ‘like’ or ‘follow’ any of your posts, but we are interested, honest.
Here at 77 we really love Rube Goldberg machines, and not only are these guys really good, it seems they get paid for it as well. Its definitely worth checking out the rest of their machines.

Syrian Rebels have made their own ‘tank’, complete with PlayStation controller operated mounted gun.
I applaud their ingenuity and determination, but I can’t help but think that this will most likely end up as a one way journey if it comes up against the presumably more sophisticated military hardware of the Syrian army. (via)
